Not just a clever name for a band, but a simplistic yet irreverent proposal to the music world, I just hope this was not a lucky shot Highlights: Tell her tonight, this fire, come on home

The Fiery Furnaces "Blueberry Boat"
A vibrant trip to the Friedberger's brothers world. An adventurous production that goes all over the places but manages to sound relevant Highlights: My dog was lost, Spaniolated, Straight Street

Muse "Absolution"
A powerful record with some outrageous musical arrangements, a great piece of work that flirts with classical music and distorted guitars, a must have Highlights: Stockholm Syndrome,Time Is Running Out

Scissor sisters
Without a doubt one of the most powerful live acts in the world, the Scissor Sisters are remarkable for reviving the ghost of the 70's and 80's and making them sound relevant again. If you are a purist don't even bother. Highlights: Take your mama out, Tits on the radio and yes Comfortably Numb (from Pink Floyd)

The Streets "A grant don't come for free"
I waited to listen to this one the second work of the streets before jumping in the bandwagon, I have to say I was sadly late. This is a truly superb snapshot of suburban life narrated by a non fictional character, Mr. Mike Skinner. Highlights: . It Was Supposed To Be So Easy, Fit But You Know It, Dry your eyes

The Killers "Hot Fuss"
Americas answer to Franz Ferdinand, the Killers have a more rough sound that their UK counterparts. The Killers excel in finding catchy guitar rifts and danceable beats without leaving their Indy sound.Highlights: Mr. Brightside, Somebody Told Me, All These Things That I've Done

Secret Machines "Now Here Is Nowhere"
A Dallas based band that moved to New York to find success. A very particular sound from a trio that raises the level once again of American music. Highlights:First Wave Intact, Nowhere Again, You Are Chains

Julieta Venegas "Si"
Julieta Venegas jumped into full frontal pop with this well produced work and managed to tell us how her life has changed now that she seems to be in love.Highlights:Lento, Donde Quiero Estar, Nada Serio

Snow Patrol "Final Straw"
A great set of irish guitar rock tunes, that evokes the likes of Coldplay and Doves, an excelent alternative to another great album from Keane. Highlights:Spitting Games, Chocolate, Run

Loretta Lynn "Van Lear Rose"
For me the best of the pack, an amazing production from Jack White (The White Stripes). An example of how to blend music styles without compromising the essence of both. SUPERB. Highlights:Porland Oregon, High on a mountain top, Family Tree

Air "Talkie Walkie"
The French duo is constant in delivering intelligent, innovative electronic music. This effort places them as the leaders in the slow electronica segment, a great chill out album (as always) Highlights:Surfin' On A Rocket, Cherry Blossom Girl,Alpha Beta Gaga
